Job Scam Alert – Recruitment Phishing Scams Targeting Job Seekers

The number of fraudulent recruitment scams in Singapore has been on the rise. These scams typically involve individuals pretending to be legitimate recruiters on platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, WeChat, Facebook, or Line. They may falsely promise job opportunities, request payment in exchange for job introduction or an interview, or attempt to collect sensitive personal information such as your bank details, credit card number, or passwords during job introduction phase.

At Pasona Singapore, we never ask job seekers for money, bank transfers in return for job introduction. All applications through our official channels are free of charge, and our consultants strictly follow professional and ethical recruitment practices.

What is a recruitment scam?

A recruitment scam is a fraudulent attempt by criminals to mislead job seekers for financial gain or identity theft. These scams can take many forms and appear on various platforms. It is important to remain cautious and verify the legitimacy of any communication you receive.

How can you protect yourself?

  1. Do not make payments – Pasona Singapore will never ask for money in return for a job introduction or interview.
  2. Do not click on suspicious links – Avoid links or attachments from unknown senders.
  3. Keep your personal details private – Never share sensitive data such as bank account numbers, credit card details or passwords.
  4. Verify the sender’s email address – Our official domain: @pasona.com.sg. Emails from other domains should be treated as suspicious.
  5. Be cautious on social media and messaging apps – If you receive messages about job opportunities from individuals claiming to be Pasona consultants outside of Singapore, please ignore them.

Report a Recruitment Scam

If you suspect that you have been targeted by a scam, please take immediate steps to protect yourself and report the incident:

Block and ignore suspicious messages

Report the activity to trusted authorities such as the Singapore Police Force or ScamShield (www.scamshield.org.sg)
